Empire Zoysia & Empress Zoysia: The Empire grass variety has a wider blade and the Empress' blade is more narrow. The Empire Zoysia and Empress Zoysia are not the same variety as the northern states Zoysia but, they do share the same soft texture as the northern variety. These grasses were discovered in Brazil so they grow well in hot and humid climates.
Characteristics:
- Soft blade texture
- Grows very thick
- Very aggressive - puts out runners. Can be a little too invasive
- Good cold tolerance
- Water resistant after it's been well established
